The RTO must validate its assessment strategies by:

  1. reviewing, comparing and evaluating the assessment processes, tools and evidence contributing to judgements made by a range of assessors against the same competency standards at least annually; and
  2. documenting any action taken to improve the quality and consistency of assessment

Examples of evidence for an
online learning environment

Planning validation activities

Providing opportunities for assessment staff to review, compare and evaluate assessment processes and tools is an important consideration in the RTO planning cycle. RTOs may make use of electronic communication and forums with staff, or plan and conduct physical face to face sessions.

Examples of evidence of compliance:

Documentation of on-line assessment procedures in staff information material.

Documentation of ‘testing’ and functionality of online assessment items.

Review of on-line assessment tools and maintenance.

Validation of online assessment against other delivery modes for the same qualification.
