Projects: Access to Flexible Learning Resources
|
Investigations into access of publicly funded flexible learning
resources within the Australian Vocational Education and Training
(VET) system, including the ACE (Adult Community Education)
sector, were carried out during Stage One of the Access to
Flexible Learning Resources project in 2000.
The project team:
- Researched overseas models and conducted a literature
survey,
- Interviewed a sample of VET practitioners who are regularly
looking for flexible learning resources,
- Conducted a review and analysis of existing Australian
catalogues and databases of VET flexible learning materials,
- Wrote a discussion paper and conducted three workshops,
- Produced a Final Report which includes recommendations
on how to improve access to flexible learning resources.
Access to Flexible Learning Resources Stage Two, conducted
in 2001, produced an Online Guide to Resource Catalogues.
This Guide provides a snapshot of the major, publicly funded
catalogues of VET flexible learning resources in Australia.
The catalogues on the Guide are listed by state and the Guide
provides a description of each catalogue including:
- the scope of the catalogue,
- the URL or web address of the catalogue,
- the number of resources the catalogue provides,
- availability of the types of resources the Guide provides
(audio, video etc.).

The Online Guide to Resource
Catalogues provides a concise set of web pages that describe
the major registers (or catalogues) of VET flexible learning
resources. The Guide provides a description of the major registers
of VET learning resources in Australia with links to their
websites. The description of each register covers the scope
of the site, including the quantity and nature of material
as well as the types of services it offers (eg whether materials
need to be purchased).
