and content expert
Indigenous inclusiveness: getting down to business was a joint collaborative initiative between New Practices in Flexible Learning and Research and Dissemination, both programs under the Australian Flexible Learning Framework.
This project used an action learning approach, by a project team which included an Indigenous researcher, to review and evaluate the processes, systems and approaches to project planning and management of New Practices in Flexible Learning and Research and Dissemination projects that involve Indigenous individuals and communities.
To date there are no significant guidelines or standards for VET organisations for the planning, design and management of projects involving Indigenous Australians. The outcomes of the review and evaluation informed and provided identification of the benchmark indicators of success which were developed into a set of guidelines. These guidelines will assist future applicants to consider issues and standard protocols when including Indigenous people and their communities in flexible learning initiatives of Australian Flexible Learning Framework projects, as well as other national, state or local initiatives.
