Courses Offered 

There are a range of TAFE VC (TAFE Virtual Campus) programs offered including; Quality Management and Assurance; Administrative Studies (Prepare for Training); Electronics; Occupational Health and Safety and the Aerospace Industry Training Centre programs.

The Flexible Delivery courses are available through the use of computers, online resources and workbooks. Access is available via e-mail, online, telephone or face-to-face. These courses/ modules include: Administration Studies, Call Centre work, Electronics, Small Business, Community Service and Health courses, Computer Studies, Communication, Finance, Marketing and Management.

Prospective Student

Career Advice
Comprehensive Career counselling is available for a fee through ‘Advance Your Career’ packages and includes computer scored interest inventories, which is provided face-to-face. Limited career counselling is available through e-mail. Prospective students may access one free course counselling session that has some basic career counselling.

Course Information/ Advice

The website gives course information containing an outline, timetables, length, how to apply and options for study. The Customer Service Centre provides printed information, telephone and email services.
Course Advice is available to prospective students over the telephone, by e-mail or face-to-face.

Enrolling Student

Enrolment Process 
Online Enrolment is available through the TAFE VC, although it is not linked to our Student Management Information System (QLS) as yet. This still requires manual processing through the Customer Service Centre, which is contactable through face-to-face, by phone or e-mail.

Payment of Fees

Students can pay their fees through the usual forms other than on the Internet i.e. phone, post and face-to-face.

Help on enrolling

There is a Financial and Accommodation officer available at the Broadmeadows Campus for face-to-face contact or telephone assistance to clarify fees or assist with concessions or loans. E-mail requests for information are also made available.

Enrolled Student

Orientation to Online Learning
The teaching departments and the Flexible Learning Centres can run orientation sessions for both groups and individuals. The counsellor offers face-to-face Flexible Learning workshops (1˝ hours). Also available is a Flexible Learning Handbook, whilst the counsellor has put the Flexible Learning Guide on the website, which looks at areas such as Getting Started, Motivation, Successful Assessment and Internet Addiction. This is in process of being adapted to an Online learning guide and will be available on the TAFE VC.

Induction and Orientation to Specific Course
Specific course induction completed by content teachers but not online.

Administrative Services (changing courses, results, late fees etc.)
Information is on the website, although access to forms is through the post or face-to-face.

Academic Support (study skills, time management, information literacy, numeracy, peer support)
Most of the support in this area is face-to-face or by telephone. Flexible learning workshops are face-to-face. The Flexible learning guide is on the website and will be adapted to online learning. E-mail support is available.

Peer support occurs through TAFE VC threaded module discussion groups or through a Flexible Learning support group at Essendon Campus run by the Counsellor.

Counselling (personal)
Most counselling for Flexible Learning students is done face-to-face although there is some telephone counselling undertaken. General information and appointments are available through email. Online counselling is limited at this stage, although follow-up often occurs through e-mail. There will be some self-help information on a TAFE VC module called Help, Fun, Info-Student and Information Services at KBT.

Career counselling
As above (personal counselling). Also useful, career exploration material is provided on the KBT website.

Graduating Students

Information on Career Destinations
There is some information on the website but most advice and information is given face-to-face or via the telephone.

Any Other Information

Comments
The Student and Information Services Department is currently developing the module, Help, Fun and Info - Student and Information Services at KBT for students on the TAFE VC platform. It will be in a self -help format, containing e-mail addresses for further contact.

TAFE Virtual Campus - the TAFE VC is an online platform that supports a complete learning environment for the management and delivery of training. Kangan Batman Institute uses the TAFE VC to provide an interface between students at home, the workplace or within a LAN environment to support both their on-campus and off-campus students.

Kangan Batman Website offers services that include; management of enrolment, course assessment tasks and delivery of assessment results linking to the management information system of institutions, common interface for communication to support the learners and teachers.
